Speaking of lost bladder control, Paranormal Activity was a really fun little movie, even with the dense clouds of hype around it. I didn't mind the long nonscary chunks, especially at the beginning, and they really did a hell of a lot with not too much.

As I told Chris after the movie, it's also something of a reassurance to viewers: we can walk out safe in the knowledge that our boyfriends would never be so fucking stupid about bringing Ouija boards into houses with demons we had been specifically forbidden to speak with.

Oniony Edit: Y'know, ever since I was a pre-teen, this has bothered me. Who the hell still enjoys the sight of that lumpy, pie-eyed, misbegotten pseudo-feminine turd enough to give someone else money - currency! That you buy food and batteries with! - in exchange for plastic mugs shaped like her hideous cranium? It's almost as bad as Scooby-Doo, though thankfully not nearly so goddamned prolific.

Mom is making chicken and dumplings for dinner, and brownies for dessert. Tonight is full of comfort food. It's like mom sensed ahead of time that I would be upset. She is so wonderful. I can eat my way out of being upset.

We went to Petsmart earlier, just for the hell of it, and I was accosted by four species of cute fuzzums who wanted to come home and further cuten up our tiny household (a corgi/Chihuahua mix named Thumper outside, a conure who climbed right up his cage to inspect me more closely, two hooded rats who balanced their little paws against the glass to try to sniff my face, and a black-and-white kitten who stalked up to us and yelled till we moved out of his sight).

No, I didn't bring any of them home. I REALLY, REALLY WANTED TO. I MUST EMPHASIZE THIS. SWEET FUCK THEY WERE ALL SO FRIGGIN KYOOOOOOT though I strongly doubt I'll ever get a bird. This one was just disgustingly cute, even when I walked away and it shrieked like an indignant jet engine.

Discovered one of those pill-hidey treat things there, though, one for cats, and got it out of desperation because we haven't been giving Kaien his medicine because he locks his jaw out of sheer panic and neither of us could bring ourselves to force his mouth open and shove pills down there. Luckily, the pill pockets are made of some soft chickeny product, and not only did Kaien snarf two doses right the hell down, he licked the floor and sniffed around in case more sweet, sweet medicinal candy was to be had. Yessss!

Still v. pretty out. I approve.

Re-read the "Turn Back The Pendulum" arc of Bleach this afternoon. Reading it all at once, it makes a lot more sense then when I read it one chapter a week, since I would forget things in between. Glad I did. Cause now I totally understand what happened.

But there was one panel that threw me into a fit of giggles and I can only pray to god that Kubo did this on purpose...



I actually had to double-take to realize that the hilt wasn't a cane-handle. There are so many things about this that scream "Kisuke 100 years from now" and I just hope to god that he did it on purpose and it isn't just some kind of fluke. He HAD to have done it on purpose right? I mean REALLY. Just LOOK at him!

Even though I want to smack him upside the head time and time again, I just adore Kubo most of the time because of things like this.

What has surprised you the most about me (if anything) since joining my flist/"friending me"? Was anything completely unexpected or have I always fit the picture of me you have in your head?

This was a pretty decent chapter. Not like... spectacular but it had some high points.

WHAT THE HELL ICHIGO WHEN DID YOU TURN ADORABLE AGAIN?

This is one thing about the past two weeks that has just made me elated. Certain moments, certain panels, specifically ones of Ichigo, have been giving me flashbacks to the early days of the series. Back when the story existed and the art was out of the ordinary and made me want to draw things all over the place.

I haven't updated in awhile. Things have been crazy.

Kevin and I checked out TESOL programs at UB today at the Graduate School of Education. I still want to apply, but it appears as if my SXB credits are going to bite me in the ass again. I'll have to petition them to count as French credits in order to be able to apply... ugh.

Then I ranted about my SXB adventures for awhile. Sorry Kevin. Good times.

I had breakfast with Mike Lamanna! He was also checking out UB today. Random.

Eh Ku Thein confronted a little girl I didn't know who hugged me today in school and asked if she really knew me. The girl pretended she did. He called her bluff by calling me his best friend. He's four. And he thinks my name is Library.

The Buick has been really REALLY tempramental this week.

When asked who he was over the speakerphone, Kyaw Zin Oo said that he was a monster brought to my office to protect Miss Kelly. My boys are awesome.

The other day I went to Blockbuster to buy some DVDs since the one near my house is going out of business. I bought Spike Lee's When the Levees Broke and The Express. That pretty much defines me.

I miss college sometimes. I love my life here. I love my job and my community and my friends and my apartment and my boyfriend.  But sometimes I watch The Express and talk to my college friends and I miss them like crazy.

I think I'll call Suzanne... if she's recovered from the Yankees game yettttttttt

For the past couple of days, since I picked up tailstabbings, I've been dealing with how uncomfortable it is playing a character who is so blatantly and unashamedly racist. She went around talking down about humans and proclaiming them inferior just because of what they were.

The mindset was ridiculously uncomfortable for me, just because of how I am about racism. And not just "whites about everyone that's not white". But I'm not here to talk about racism. The point is, that her mindset made me very very uncomfortable, but I couldn't have her not think that way because it would be completely out of character. Beastmen hate and oppress humans. That's what they do. That's why Gurren-dan formed and rebelled.

But playing Adiane means I'm playing her alongside predominantly human characters. Ones that don't know her will question why she feels the way she does. Meaning she's had to defend her position. And that was when I had to start exploring Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann from the Beastmen's point-of-view.

Guys. I am fascinated.

I'm really interested to see what else I might be able to piece together from playing Adiane. I didn't expect her to give me something to really think about in regards to this series. And it makes me wish that, at some point, we'd been asked to question the Beastmen's motives. Then again, not many series really ask us to get into the heads of the antagonists and figure out why they do what they do.

Silver is laying on my legs. This is preventing me both from being able to do any work and also make/get lunch. I want to do these things, but she is laying draped over my legs, on her side, STARING at me with big kitty eyes, purring and I don't have the heart to move her so I can get anything done.

Rereading A Wizard of Earthsea for only the second time--considering I idly reread my books at least thrice a year - or weekly, as with my bathroom stack of James Herriots - that's really somethin'. It's good stuff, with the runes and the names and whathaveyou. One sees why the author was so pissed about Ged being depicted on covers as this Aryan superchild, too. ...As I vaguely remember having read somewhere once. (Ged is "red-brown." So is everyone else, or darker, except a couple of witch-women and savage pseudo-Nordic invaders.)

Anyway, thegeminifactor did yet another iteration of an interview meme, except based on the utterance "resistance is futile." (This will become relevant anon.) I partook, though we could probably answer questions on each other's behalf after all the time we've spent hanging out the past couple of years. Regardless, thar she blows:

Something about healthcare, one guy got arrested, only lasted for like 10 minutes.

I really like this apartment, but when I first moved in, it was me, a guinea pig and two cats. That all fit a trifle better than me, Mike, three guinea pigs and two cats. Hikaru had a nasty habit of grabbing the cage and shaking the whole damn thing with his cute widdle tooths, but Sora and Riku (read: Riku) boing and chirp and cluck and SCREAM at an impressive rate, while Mayu routinely tackles Kaien and chews on his ass and makes him cry and I'm quite glad I find it funny 98% of the time, because there's no escaping it, even with the bedroom door closed.

*counting down days till graduation, so's I can get a real job and/or we can save enough to find a bigger place when this lease is up*

At this point, we'd have to go shoebox-shopping to not get a bigger place. I think this is under 600 square feet. D:
